Please note that we are postponing Stonewall 50 Across Canada till Fall 2020

In light of the recent announcement of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Intl Day of Pink organizing committee has unanimously decided to postpone Stonewall 50 Across Canada.

We are doing this to reduce the risk to vulnerable populations, following recommendations by public health officials promoting ‘social distancing’ and do our part to 'flatten the curve'.

The Stonewall riots (also referred to as the Stonewall uprising or the Stonewall rebellion) were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations by members of the gay (2SLGBTQIA+) community against a police raid that began in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighbourhood of Manhattan, New York City. They are widely considered constituting the most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in across the world.

Learn about what really happened at Stonewall.
Hear from folks who lived through the Stonewall Riots and activism at that time.

A curriculum guide will be available shortly.
