Honour Candy Palmater

On December 25, 2021, we said goodbye to community hero Candy Palmater. Candy volunteered and supported countless charitable organizations, including the Day of Pink.

In collaboration with her family, we are proud to invite you to join us in honouring Candy’s legacy with action:

  1. Donate:
In lieu of flowers or gifts, we invite you to make a donation to Candy’s favourite organizations, Native Women's Association of Canada and Wabanaki Two Spirit Alliance. These organizations advocate and offer critical programming to Indigenous communities. Funds collected will be shared with these organizations and Candy's family.

Donations can be made through the Day of Pink.

  2. Take action:
Candy was especially passionate about ensuring every Indigenous community have access to clean drinking water. This letter will be presented as a petition in the House of Commons and in all provincial and territorial legislatures in 2022.

Sign Candy’s letter demanding that the Prime Minister fulfills the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Call to Action and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Inquiry’s Call for Justice.

  3. Share your memories:
Each of us has very fond memories of Candy. Please share your stories and photos of Candy. These will be collected into a digital archive for the family and may be used at her Celebration of Life.

If you are sharing something online, please consider using #HonouringCandy and #CandyPalmater

  4. Watch Candy’s Celebration of Life:
Candy’s Celebration of Life took place January 28th, at 1pm EST. You can watch the celebration here: https://celebration.thecandyshow.com/

  5. Buy a shirt or button:
With Candy’s family, Megan Tipler created a design to celebrate Candy’s life. Consider buying the shirt, button, or both! Proceeds will support Candy’s charities and family.

  6. Buy some from Candy’s closet:
Take a peek at over 150 items from Candy’s closet — from brand-new pieces to pieces she loved and wore gently over the years on many shows and gigs. Clothing, purses, shoes + more!

    Visit: www.poshmark.ca/closet/honourcandy to browse!

Candy has and continues to be an inspiration to us all.

Thank you for honouring Candy, and please share this invitation with your networks.

Thanks,

The Honour Candy Palmater team
